In 1972, 200 Black music professors, teachers, composers, performers and connoisseurs got into “good trouble”. They protested the exclusion of Black music and musicians at thew Music Educators National Conference (MENC) by walking away from the convention in Atlanta and traveling to Morehouse College to start the process.
The National Association for the Study and Performance of African-American Music or “NASPAAM” stated purpose is to further the development and dissemination of Black Music through advocacy, education, and performance. The organization is focused on providing leadership and motivation for music educators, musicians and others in their musical journey.
Fresh off of celebrating their 50 year of existence, NASPAAM is ready for the 21st century by focusing on effective ways to attract younger members into organization in an effort to continue the excellence started in way back in 1972.
Bounce is proud to bring attention to this impactful community organization and invite you to find out more on their website –NASPAAM
